AAAAAARG!

Ok, over three weeks ago I had arranged a shoot with the following model. Then she calls to ask for a change because of some lame excuse. I accommodate being generally easy going. So we make a new appointment for 2 weeks later - for tomorrow.

Tonight she writes that she has a "better offer" for tomorrow and cannot make our shoot.

Rude, unprofessional, (expletive)

This is the third time in as many weeks and I am tired of simply looking the other way. So here she is: Hopefully she acts more professionaly with you than she has with me.

this topic is not really a new one!

but i can deeply understand what images nrc is talking about!

it's just unprofessional from many models (and even photographers) to think an appointment for a shooting can be canceled anytime.

Thanks for all the comments. When I posted a separate message in the model's thread it got more comments over my bad German than the main theme.

My points are:

A TFP job is a JOB! The pay is in the form of work from the other person. It should be treated and respected as any other job. Why would you accept a TFP project with someone who's work you do not like enough to want?

If you do get a better or more important offer - things can happen and appointments can need to be changed - there are other ways to approach it than simply cancelling.

1. The model could have said she had another commitment with a photographer and asked to do the paid job on another day - in this case especially I do not think the model got a big magazine client with tight deadlines

2. The model could have checked with me first and asked if I would mind changing (a second time!) because she had an opportunity to earn money.

If it had been me who had the opportunity for a paid job, I would have first called and asked if she would be ok changing because I would still want to work with her. And, if she agreed to help me out, I would have done something extra to say thank you.

The problem is there is very little appreciation by models for the work (and cost of equipment, etc.) that photographers put in to make (hopefully good) quality photographs

also ich finde es ehrlich lächerlich, wie sich hier drüber aufgeregt wird, wenn man ein TFP Shooting absagt.... ich denke das jedes Model einen gut Bezahlten Job einem Shooting vorziehen würde, wenn es davon lebt..... und wäre ich nicht professionell, dann würde ich damit auch nicht mein Geld verdienen.
Vielleicht mag es kurzfristig gewesen sein - für was ich jedoch auch nichts kann, aber ein Shooting was oberflächlig geplant war und ohne Visa, ist wohl nicht so zum überbewerten.
Aber jeder hat da seine meinung aber wenn dich jemand frägt willst du einen Job für 1000 euro oder ein Shooting, dann will ich den jenigen sehen, der das Shooting vorzieh... :) so viel dazu ....

You have cancelled twice on me. You did not call but wrote an email complaining that you are so stressed with life and unable to do everything you need to do.

You are simply untrustworthy and unprofessional.

You agreed to shoot with me - even with out a visa - so I assume you either liked my work or thought that you would gain something from the job. If not, you are a fool for agreeing to do the tfp job in the first place.

Had you called and asked if I would be willing to change AGAIN, at least you would have shown professional courtesy. But as my post is titled, you chose to be rude, unprofessional and untrustworthy and a total waste of my time.

You will do it again to other photographers and other people. You know you will.

So thank you for letting everyone here know who you are.

es geht in meinem Fall jedoch nicht um " ich habe keinen Bock und habe morgen ein besseres TFP Shooting mit einem anderen Fotografen" sondern um viel Geld... und mir ist es egal was ihr davon haltet, ich sage jedes Model hätte so gehandelt... wenn ein Fotograf ein großes Angebot kurzfristig reinbekommt wo er viel Geld verdient und auf weiter Jobs mit dem Kunden hofft... wird er denke ich mal auch in erwegung ziehen, dann das tfp Shooting mit dem model zu verschieben... oder nicht ???

Die meisten Fotografen und Models hier machen es vielleicht nebenbei um nette Bilder zu haben oder ihrem Hobby nach zu gehen, aber es gibt auch leute die damit ihren Unterhalt finanzieren etc... das sollte man dann auch respektieren, vorallem finde ich es eh kindisch wenn man dinge immer öffentlich macht... ich denke man hätte das Thema auch unter sich klären können =)

the issue Yvonne is not that you got a better opportunity. The issue is how you cancelled, when you cancelled and your rude and unprofessional way of doing it.

Had you called, explained the situation and asked if it was ok to change or cancel, of course any reasonable person would have said yes and been happy to do so. Of course I would not demand you give up that opportunity - if it is real - and would have been happy for you.

But if your situation is real, you are in the minority of situations. Mostly models do this because they prefer to go out partying or decide they really don't want to work or are simply irresponsible. There are probably photographers like that also.

Good luck with your shoot, I hope it turns into something really great for you.

But every person who chooses to work with you will have to wonder if you will cancel at the last minute - because you got something better or because you simply do not care and are not professional about how you work.

ich hatte schon sooo viele Shootings und bis jetzt noch NIE ein einziges abgesagt, also wenn du meinst du brauchst mich jetzt so hin zu stellen, als würde ich IMMER jedem absagen in letzter minute, finde ich das echt sehr frech von dir aber bitte wie du willst...
ich habe zu dem Thema nix mehr zu sagen... ich habe mich dafür entschuldigt, weil es mir auch Leid tut ehrlich... aber in dem Fall geht der Job einfach vor i´m sorry...
die Welt geht deswegen nicht unter und ich denke du hast auch keine 100 euro dadurch verloren also die idee Carl ist ja mal wirklich zu belächeln :)

Ich habe Deutsch zu schreiben in andere Posts aber mehr Leute kümmert über es als die original Thema. Weill ich Basic Deutsch kann, es ist nicht genug für etwas mehr kompliziert.

Ich möchte es besser machen und heute ich glaube ich konnte besser Deutsch benutzt!
