Gerd Rattei wurde 1936 in Cottbus geboren, am 09.05.2025 hat sich sein Leben vollendet.
Erlernter Beruf ist Schriftenmaler, zunächst Fotografie und Malerei als Hobby (u.a. mit Klaus Bramburger).
In den 1960er Jahren einer von 8 Studenten in Leipzig an der Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, Abteilung Fotografie (da war er bereits älter als 30), Hochschul-Abschluß als Fotografiker.
3,5 Jahre Luftbildfotograf, ab 1971 DEWAG-Fotograf, z.B. Produktfotograf in der Glasindustrie, aus dieser Arbeit stammt das gezeigte Foto des AFIAP.
Seine Arbeiten sind in vielen Büchern veröffentlicht worden. Ich hatte die Ehre, mit dem Meister mehrere Shootings in meinem Atelier durchführen zu können.
